£31m tabled: Leandro Paredes to Chelsea takes a massive twist

Chelsea face a tough bid in their quest to land Zenit St Petersburg star Leandro Paredes. According to reports, French giants PSG have made a late bid to sign the Argentine international which has seen a twist in the transfer.

Paredes had been lined up by the Blues as a replacement for Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas and an initial bid of £31 million had been submitted by the club. Zenit are understood to be holding out for a transfer fee of £51million. PSG have offered Paredes a contract and Inside Futbol claims that the midfielder prefers Paris to London.

Paredes is famed for his playmaking ability and ball-winning qualities. The 24-year-old had been earmarked by Chelsea boss as a squad rotation player for Jorginho.

It remains to be seen how this transfer pans out as PSG have FFP regulations to worry about which makes Chelsea slight favourites to complete the deal.

Gonzalo Higuain could be the second signing for the Blues as reports say that he is already in London for a medical. Sarri is keen to boost his attacking options and Higuain is viewed as the perfect fit for Sarri-ball. Chelsea next face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Thursday as they seek to reverse the 1-0 defeat suffered 2 weeks ago.
