Chelsea News: Sarri to appoint £200k-a-week star as Chelsea captain

Chelsea football club are strongly considering  making Eden Hazard the club captain to ward off interest from Real Madrid at least.

Real Madrid are long-standing admirers of the talented and hardworking Belgian, who is largely touted as a replacement for the vacuum left by Ronaldo when he joined Juventus.

Things seems to have taken a new dimension for the Chelsea player after the turn of event which led to the sack of Julian Lopetegui last week by Real Madrid.

So, whoever is going to be permanently appointed at the Bernabeau will determine to a large extent if Hazard will depart or stay at Chelsea. At least so it looks for now.

This is somewhat good news for Chelsea but the club is not taking any chances and have therefore decided to make the former Lille star the captain if he pens a contract extension.

Garry Cahill is the captain when selected but recently, the Englishman rarely features and Azpilicueta is the deputy.

The skipper is expected to depart the club soonest and it therefore behoves on the gaffer to choose a new skipper when the need arises and Hazard seems like the obvious candidate if reports are to be believed.

It is paramount that Chelsea keep Hazard for the long haul and they should give him the hand band if that is what it will take.
