Chelsea fans were hoping for a big name striker in January after the club was being linked to quality goal-scorers. Mauro Icardi of Inter Milan and Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek have all been mooted for a possible transfer to the Blues.
However, this seems to have changed with reports now linking Chelsea to an home-grown talent enjoying his football with Bournemouth, Callum Wilson.
Wilson who recently achieved a half century of goals is being sized up by Chelsea for a January transfer to help with the attack.
The 24-year-old Englishman has scored seven goals this season and chipped in with five assist in his 13 appearances so far for his club.
He is enjoying a sublime season after recovering from two ligament setbacks in three years. So he is tough and resilient.
Maurizio Sarri has helped return confidence to the hitherto mentally fragile Alvaro Morata. But the Chelsea manager doesn’t want to put too much pressure on the Spaniard’s shoulder just yet hence the interest in Callum Wilson.
The former Coventry player will cost the Blues give or take £35m in transfer fees.
Besides the ridiculous sum of £90m Inter is demanding for Mauro Icardi and Genoa signed Krzysztof Piatek just this summer and is unavailable in January, any would have been an upgrade on Morata or Giroud.
