Chelsea football club have been told by La Liga giants Real Madrid that an offer to make the loan deal of Mateo Kovacic permanent might be considered if they cough out £50m for his signature.

Mateo Kovacic is currently on a season long-loan at Stamford Bridge. He joined from Real Madrid this summer due to limited playing opportunities offered at the Bernabeau.

The 24-year-old Croat is having an impressive season with Chelsea. He has, as a matter of fact form with Ngolo Kante and Jorginho a very strong midfield core yet to be defeated this season in all competition.

Chelsea are not looking to make the deal permanent due to the availability of two Englishmen who are also pushing for a start.

If the contract of the Real Madrid player is made permanent, John Barkley and Reuben Loftus-Cheek will find playing chances difficult to come by which might prompt a push for an exit. A situation Chelsea want to avoid.

Anyways, Real Madrid have informed the club to pay £50m if they intend to keep Kovacic beyond this season as the Spanish giants midfield is well stocked.

Besides, the players release clause in Spain is a whooping sum of £262m. It seems the club is doing Chelsea a huge favour for wanting to offload the talented and young midfielder.
