Arsenal have reportedly missed out on a defender due to work permit refusal by the UK authorities.
According to reports, one Moroccan player was slated to join the Gunners but due to inability to secure work Kermit he has instead joined Schalke for a deal worth around 7 million euros.
The Moroccan fullback whose name is Hamza Mendyl has joined Schalke from Lille in France after amassing 13 caps for his national team side.
Mendyl was reportedly also interesting Newcastle but due to refusal by England authorities to grant a work permit, the player has moved to the German Bundesliga for the foreseeable future.
Schalke chief Christan Heidel seems to be genuinely happy about the capture of the Moroccan and especially grateful that it slipped through the Gunners management’s nose, as he posited: “I think he would have gone to Arsenal.”
Not sure this is a loss for Arsenal given that they bought well even if the investment made has not translated into points this season.
Arsenal have lost against Manchester City and Chelsea and their next up is West Ham and it will send the wrong message if they get nothing from this match.
