Injury concern for Chelsea ahead of Tottenham clash

Emerging reports have it that Mateo Kovacic, Chelsea midfielder had suffered a leg injury and hence his absence from the UEFA Nation league clash against England. A match Croatia won in extra time.

Kovacic who has made 15 appearances in all competition for Chelsea will miss the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur if he is unable to recover from the setback.

The 24-year-old on loan midfielder joined Chelsea in a season long loan from Real Madrid. A temporary move that have evidenced the huge calm and control the Croat brings to the Chelsea midfield.

Since joining, he has cemented a place in the midfield trio alongside Jorginho and Ngolo Kante. Their presence has continued to yield an undefeated start in the league so far.

A fit equalled only by Liverpool and Manchester City even if they are above them in the league standing.

His injury will be a serious worry to the fans and backroom staff. This goes to show how important he has grown in the side. The extent of the injury is not known so hopefully he will be passed fit for the Sunday crunch encounter.

However, if he is unable to feature, the Blues have quality cover for him in that position. Reuben Loftus-Cheek and Barkley are quite sufficient replacement for the Croat if absent.
