Jurgen Klopp’s happiness of the recent return to training of Jordan Henderson will be short-lived with the recent report of another injury setback to the same player while on international duties.
After being sidelined by an hamstring injury sustained a couple of weeks ago, the midfielder returned in a second half appearance against Fulham in the week before the international break. But only to be confirmed injured again.
The 29-year-old Liverpool skipper was reported injured by England coach following the match against USA in an international friendly.
“Jordan has been carrying a bit of an injury. He’s someone who always wants to play, but in the end, I had to take a decision.” Southgate said.
Henderson’s injury report will be frustrating for the club and particularly the player who has been working tirelessly to gain match fitness after a recent hamstring lay off.
As the dreaded Christmas period approaches, it will be energy sapping to have the same players featuring in such unforgiving circumstances.
Liverpool sit second in the league and closely accompanied by Chelsea who dropped points against Everton the weekend before the international break.
It is paramount that the Merseyside club have a healthy group of players as they challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
