Paul Merson trusts that Aaron Ramsey will fit impeccably at Liverpool if they afford to sign him.
Come the end of this season, the Welsh footballer will be a free agent. He has declined a contract offer from Arsenal and looks likely to depart for a new challenge home or abroad.
SkySport pundit Paul Merson is eager for Liverpool to secure his services. He thinks the Welshman will be a welcome addition to the Liverpool squad.
“If Liverpool want him they might as well do a deal now. He would fit in there and he would help them challenge for the title,” Merson said in his Daily Star column.
“Manchester City are a much stronger, deeper team than Liverpool at the moment, but Ramsey could help change that.
“Whatever happens, he will get a chance to see how good Liverpool are today. I can’t see anything but a Liverpool win if I’m honest.”
Although, Liverpool boast a healthy midfield option this season. They brought in two midfielders in Fabinho and Keita in the summer. Oxlade Chamberlain, Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner are also available.
Liverpool do need an attacking midfielder. After the season ending injury sustained by Chamberlain, and the sale of Emre Can, the club are lacking a ball carrying player.
The signing of Fabinho was a nice one but the pace and trickery of Oxlade Chamberlain has been missed. So if the club thinks Ramsey can do a similar job, Klopp might decide to make him a Liverpool player in January or wait till the end of the season.
However, the boss seem rather happy with the midfielders at his disposal. He mentioned this week that Liverpool will not consider adding any names to the squad in January unless something unusual happens.
