Liverpool suffer injury blow ahead of clash against Fulham

Liverpool started the season strongly but there has been a recent slump in form and result. Although they are undefeated in the league and sitting third on the same point with league leaders, Manchester City only separated by goal difference, their Champions League outing is short of catastrophic.

Recent reports emerging from the club would not give the fans any respite as one of their outstanding player has been declared injured and might not be selected to face Fulham at the weekend.

Joe Gomez, 21, has been outstanding for the club whenever he has been selected to play at central defence or right back.

Things went awry for the youngster when he came on in the second half against Serbian side Red Star Belgrade in a match Liverpool lost and afterwards sustained an Achilles setback.

This blow will be immeasurable as the defence has been sturdy with the young Englishman present.

England coach is also monitoring the situation in order to inform his decision on whether or not to invite the player for England’s next international break commitments.

Liverpool however do have options in that department if Gomez is unable to recover in time for the weekend tie.

The good news is that Naby Keita is now fit to feature again after recovering from an hamstring injury setback.

Jurgen Klopp and his boys will be hoping to bounce back from two poor back to back outings when they face Fulham this weekend.
