Eden Hazard was supposedly meant to sit out the match against Bate Borisov today by remaining in London. It however seem that the Belgian will feature according to emerging reports.
It came as a shock to discover that the 27-year-old was enroute to Belarus with the squad to take on Bate.
HIs inclusion was unexpected given that he recently returned from a back injury and the game against the Belarusian side isn’t serious considering the fact that Chelsea have almost secured their qualification.
The manager although has justified the inclusion of the Belgian in the squad when he said that: ‘I think it’s very important for us to have him on the bench for the last 30-35 minutes, if necessary.’
What Sarri wants the player to benefit from his inclusion is much-needed match fitness. This will help the team as the dreaded Christmas period approaches.
Also, Oliver Giroud will hopefully feature after a while on the sidelines due to a foot injury that saw him miss the matches against Derby County and Crystal Palace.
