Maurizio Sarri moves to agree £25 Italian defender ahead of Arsenal

Daniele Rugani

Maurizio Sarri is set to use his familiarity with the Italian Serie A to pip Daniele Rugani from under the noses of long time admirer, Arsenal.

Reports have it that Rugani’s representatives jetted off to Chelsea in London to conclude negotiations of a deal with only bolts remaining to make the player a Blue.

The 24-year-old has found life in Turin difficult because he hardly have a look into the team. He has featured only twice in the league for the Italian champions.

His situation has prompted rumours of an imminent transfer and it seems Chelsea have won the race for him because of the player’s history with Maurizio Sarri at Empoli.

Furthermore, his suppose sudden interest in learning English language have fuelled speculation that he is England bound.

Daniele Rugani

Arsenal football club was thought to be his destination but it seems Chelsea have overtaken them for the talented central back.

Chelsea who are unbeaten in the league, no small thanks to their sturdy defence, have only conceded 8 goals, want to ensure the fit continues.

The partnership of Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz at central defence has been a thing of joy for the former Napoli manager. He is not resting on his laurels though because nothing has been won.

The season is long and arduous hence the need to bring in quality cover and £25m Daniele Rugani is the obvious man even though reports are also connecting the club to Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.
