Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is eager for the club to sign Olympique Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
The young midfielder is seen as a player that can positively evolve the present style of play known as “Sarri-ball” being implemented at the club by the Italian.
Since the former Napoli gaffer took over the reins at Chelsea, he has birthed an efficient and attractive way of using the midfield to run riot over unsuspecting teams.
This approach has earned the club numerous wins and few draws with no single defeat whatsoever in this campaign.
In order to make the system better, 20-year-old Aouar has checked all the boxes of the qualities and consistency required and Sarri is eager to secure his services.
Aouar has scored 5-goals in the French league and assisted three in the Champions League by featuring in all the matches so far this season.
The club is determined to add the attacking midfielder to their ranks in light of the low goal return by the current midfield trio.
Jorginho and Kante have each scored a goal and the former only netted from the penalty spot. Mateo Kovacic is having an impressive season but goals seem to have eluded him.
Aouar is therefore expected to remedy this dearth in goals from midfield. A duty he hopefully can achieve if his club sanctions a January exit. A situation most unlikely.
Chelsea are not the only interested party in the player as Liverpool and Barcelona have also been listed as admirers.
