Maurizio Sarri tells Chelsea star to score more goals – not Giroud

Chelsea manager who joined in the summer thinks N’Golo Kante is capable of upping his game by scoring goals regularly.

The Frenchman who was pivotal to the unprecedented league title won by Leicester City has signed a contract extension with Chelsea that will keep him at the club until 2023 thereby making him the highest earner in the club history.

In the Chelsea’s manager pre match conference, he hailed the 27-year-old World Cup winner for his seamless transition to the positional change but urge him to add more goals to his game.

He’s very important for us in the defensive phase, but he’s improving in offensive movements and now he must improve in the last 20 or 25 metres. He can score more goals.

Kante joined Chelsea in 2016 after helping Leicester to their first ever premier league title. A fit he repeated the following year with Chelsea under Antonio Conte. And he crowned it with a world Cup trophy in Russia 2018 with France.

The diminutive midfielder has only chipped in with one goal and an assist this campaign. A return the manager thinks can be improved on with the right mentality and training.

Chelsea face local rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on Saturday in a much-anticipated encounter.

The Blues currently top Spurs with a point and will be eager to close the gap between them and Manchester City who they are four points behind.
