Chelsea are close to finalizing a deal for AC Milan forward Gonzalo Higuain according to reports. The West London club are hopeful of completing the deal before the League Cup tie with Tottenham on Thursday.
Higuain has been a long-term target for the Blues and reports say that an agreement has been reached for the transfer of the forward.
Higuain is understood to have jetted into London on Tuesday after Chelsea finalized a loan deal with Juventus and AC Milan. A medical has been scheduled for the 31-year-old striker after which he is expected to sign for the club. His brother and agent Nicolas was in London last week to negotiate personal terms believed to be worth £270,000 a week.
Higuain arrival is expected to trigger a wave of departure from Stamford Bridge. Spanish forward Alvaro Morata is close to securing a loan move back to Spain. The 25-year-old has endured a difficult spell at the club and is keen to resuscitate his career at Atletico Madrid. Belgium forward Michy Batshuayi is also close to a move to struggling Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
Higuain would be expected to provide a much-needed thrust to the attack, which has failed to score goals in recent matches.
