Morata out: Sarri makes 8 changes against Southampton

Maurizio Sarri will reportedly tinker with his side that secured three points against Vidi in the Europa League in midweek for the match against Southampton on Sunday.

To ensure that other established stars garner a proper rest for the Premier League visit to Southampton, a host of fringe players were used by the trainer to secure the win on Sunday.

However, reports are claiming that the trainer will make eight changes and rightly so too to the team that will visit St. Mary’s to take on Southampton on Sunday. The changes envisaged by reporters are that Kepa Arrizabalaga will remain in goal after another solid performance in midweek with Azpilicueta and Alonso returning to the defence after being left out.

At the heart of defence, Rudiger and David Luiz will return to centre back after watching Christensen and Cahill help keep a clean sheet on Thursday.

In midfield, Cesc Fabregas and Reuben Loftus Cheek will make way for Jorginho and Ngolo Kante after sitting out the match. It is in attack that we will say Morata benched after another wanting performance even though he scored the only goal. Giroud is expected to be recalled and Pedro will be replaced by Willian after recovering from a shoulder injury.

On fire Hazard will start from the first whistle after coming on as a late sub in midweek. Chelsea are hopeful of closing the 2-point gap between the joint table toppers (Manchester City and Liverpool).
