Former Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has been recommended by Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos to join Chelsea as Morata’s replacement.
Higuain, 30, was hugely wanted by Maurizio Sarri when he was appointed Chelsea’s boss in the summer but the support from the club was lukewarm and the player joined AC Milan on loan instead.
A point in fact was that the required price for the player by Juventus was shocking and the Chelsea hierarchy couldn’t sanction a deal.
Despite the obviously talented firepower at Chelsea, the goals seem to be lacking especially against team that have a well structured defence. Everton is a recent case in point.
This situation has prompted the clubs search for a genuine striker such Genoa Krzysztof Piatek and Inter Milan Mauro Icardi. And now Higuain has been recommended by the agent of one of their employee.
‘I do not know [about Higuain at Chelsea], he told Italian radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli. ‘Obviously I am cheering for the Blues. His arrival would give the squad a big boost.’
Higuain wanted to join Chelsea to play for his former manager whilst at Napoli under whose guardianship he equalled the record of the most goals scored in a Serie A season, 36.
It is left to see where the talented Argentine will end up following his seven goals in 13 appearances for the San Diego outfit this term.
