Chelsea football club are not planning on making the loan deal for Mateo Kovacic beyond this season according to reports.
The 24-year-old has featured in twelve of the 15 matches played by the club since joining from Real Madrid in the summer on a season long loan.
Despite his exploits in the league and first team, the club is not looking forward to making his loan deal permanent come the end of the season.
An option to make the deal permanent was not inserted in the deal that brought him to Stamford Bridge so the club is not in anyway obligated.
He left Real Madrid for regular playing time. A wish he is amply enjoying with the premier league giants. He had this to say when he was queried about his future, “[Playing regularly] is good. I’m a little bit tired. I was not used to playing every three or four games and here it is very tough football.
“You can’t relax against anybody so it’s a little bit difficult but I really enjoy it. We have a great team, great fans and the city is nice. I like it a lot here.”
It is believed that Chelsea are not looking to give the Croat a permanent contract because of the presence of Barkley and Reuben Loftus-Cheek who can both play in his position and are also Englishmen.
