Arsenal are reported to be closing in on a surprise move for Dalian Yifang forward Yannick Carrasco. The Belgium international has been playing in the Chinese Super League since 2015 but could move to the Emirates this January.
The former Atletico Madrid forward is believed to be keen on making this move and is willing to take a pay-cut in order to complete the transfer. According to Foot Mercato Arsenal, boss Unai Emery is a huge fan of the player and has given the green light to complete the transfer.
Dalian Yifang are reluctant to lose their star wide man who has contributed seven goals in 26 appearances this season. However, Carrasco is reportedly unhappy and could hand in a transfer request facilitating the move.
Emery is looking to bolster the attack following the long-term injury to Danny Welbeck and Carrasco is viewed as an ideal signing. The former Monaco prodigy is capable of playing in all positions in the attack and would bring an attacking threat to the wings.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal would have the funds to complete the deal as Emery revealed on Thursday that the club have no funds to signs players in January. A loan deal could suffice for the player, with an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.
