‘Welcome to Chelsea’ – fans convinced £31m deal is done after player drops huge hint

Chelsea have been active in the transfer market as the club seeks to hold on to its tight advantage in the top 4 race. One of the key transfer targets is Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes who has been touted as a replacement for departed Spanish ace Cesc Fabregas.

Paredes has made the headlines in the past few days as Chelsea negotiate with Zenit over a potential transfer in this transfer window. The 24-year-old caused a frenzy on social media Twitter when he retweeted a “Welcome to Chelsea compilation video.

This tweet gained popularity within minutes as several Chelsea fans sent congratulatory messages to the Argentine midfielder.

Despite this frenzy, a transfer fee is yet to be agreed by both clubs for the playmaker as there appears to be widely apart in their evaluation of the player.

Chelsea submitted an initial bid of £26million which was rejected by Zenit who value Paredes at around £31million. It appears that both clubs are close to reaching an agreement as seen by his latest tweet which would be good news for the Stamford Bridge faithful.
